Broken Mirror Brewery

Deliverables:

  • 1 Logo

  • 4 Beer Labels

  • 1 Six Pack Case Packaging Design

  • 1 Billboard Design

This branding project was a rebrand for Broken Mirror Brewery, a bad luck themed beer brewery. The main focus of this project was designing the beer labels and the packaging for a six pack. I chose to take inspiration from rough wood block illustrations to create my own style that would take fairly ordinary looking objects and make them have a more twisted and sinister feeling to them. I also chose to use more bold and bright colors for the backgrounds to try and make the cans stand out.

Process

I originally started with these thumbnails where I began with rough sketches of my ideas for all four types of beer. Most sketches continued on to the final versions with additions of color, textures, and shading. I also ended up going a different direction with “Jinxed Bitter Ale” which initially started as a close up on the elevator button for floor 13, referencing the numbers bad luck. In later versions, I decided to pull back and design more of the elevator and make it have a creepy and old feeling and a floor dial arrow pointing at floor 13. I also added evil eyes in the elevator to further give this one a creepier feeling.
